2nd Annual “Be A Blessing Day” benefitting Genesis Women’s Shelter to take place in Dallas on Valentine’s Day
Dallas, Texas – The 2015 Be A Blessing Day Event will benefit Genesis Women’s Shelter for this year’s Valentine’s Day Event. Genesis Women’s Shelter is committed to preventing violence by raising the level of community awareness regarding the pervasiveness and effects of domestic violence. The organization provides shelter, safety, counseling, and expert services to battered women and their children.
” Be A Blessing Day” (BABD) is an initiative that was created to bring joy and spread love to those in need on a day that was created to celebrate love- Valentine’s Day.
In the past, BABD has partnered with Dallas Based Resource Center for the Homeless, The Stewpot for its past Valentine Day projects. Since its inception, BABD has created over 500 Love Bags for people in Need. For this year’s event, BABD will be creating a total of over 200 love packets for the ladies of Genesis Women’s Shelter. Love packets are gift bags filled with necessary toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, lotion and other toiletries as well as bibles and candy. 200 + love bags will be distributed to the ladies on Valentine’s Day.
“I feel that this event is tremendously necessary” said event founder, Jennifer Onwumere. “As people, we provide for those in need on Thanksgiving and Christmas, which is amazing, but we often times forget about them on a day that they need to feel love. What better day than Valentine’s Day to show them that they are loved and that there is hope?”
Genesis Women’s Shelter is a reputable charity that has been serving the homeless population in Dallas, Texas for many years. BABD is currently seeking volunteers to help create bags for its ” Love Bag” Creation mixer and is also seeking toiletry donations.
