Hello Smart Cookies!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today’s post is re-cap of annual Valentine’s Day Charity Initiative called ” Be A Blessing Day” (BABD) created by Jen-gerbread Marketing and The Candelabrum Group. The event was created as an initiative to spread love to those who really need it on Valentine’s Day.
Our 2015 “Be A Blessing Day Event” benefited Genesis Women’s Shelter. Genesis Women’s Shelter is committed to preventing violence by raising the level of community awareness regarding the pervasiveness and effects of domestic violence. The organization provides shelter, safety, counseling, and expert services to battered women and their children.
In the past, BABD has partnered with Dallas Based Resource Center for the Homeless, The Stewpot for its Valentine Day projects. For this year’s event, BABD’s goal was to create a total of over 200 love packets for the ladies of Genesis Women’s Shelter. Love packets are gift bags filled with necessary toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, lotion and other toiletries as well as bibles and candy. However, when talking with Genesis Shelter, we learned that they service a minimum of 400 women in their outreach program.
Goal: Create a minimum of 200 bags with a maximum goal of 400 bags
Challenge: Activate the community to get involved and help us reach this goal
Marketing Methods: Grassroot Activations, Internal Mailing List, Social Media, Personal Phone Calls, Community Speaking Engagements, Media Coverage, Partnerships, Volunteer Calls
Results: This year’s “Be A Blessing Day” Initiative was our most successful to date.
– We had over 100+ Volunteers in attendance
-We exceeded our goal by over 400% and created 647 Love Bags
200 bags were donated to The Red Chair Project ( Sickle Cell Charity Initiative) and 447 were donated to Genesis Women’s Shelter!
